Fight for Love - Episode 13-14 Discussions

Drama Host

Edit: Dang it I posted the wrong title, deleted it and reposting

Fun Fact: Puzzle locks were popular in Ancient China, first appearing around 200BC during the Han Dynasty, they were first just simple barb-spring designs and eventually evolved to super complex during the Ming Dynasty. There are three main types of puzzle locks in ancient China, locks with an extra obstacle, locks with indirect insertion and multi-stage locks. An obstacle lock just means there's something in the way of the keyhole and needs to be removed before the key can be inserted and the lock can be unlocked. A indirect insertion lock or a maze lock is a lock that needs to be inserted in a certain direction and certain motion or series of motions. Then there's multi-stage locks, which could mean you would need to open one lock then a second lock to unlock both locks.

If you ever wonder how I get to these random facts...it's mainly me googling something from the show which then leads me down a rabbit hole...in this case I was looking up combination locks in the Tang Dynasty lol

Discussion Questions:

  1. Who do you think the spy in the Princess's mansion is?

Episode 13

What a plan...

Aw look at Wei Yun waiting worriedly outside

Wait do you really not suspect Hanmei?

It really is a dumb idea to sneak into the Princess Mansion

What is her plan here...she really thinks everyone is dumber than her? Plot armor is strong

Let me pause because I figured out why I think Victoria Song feels off to me in this show. She's playing too wide of a range of ages and it's throwing it off...she's a 38 year old playing what I assume is actually an early 20s woman trying act like she's in her 30s while also acting immature like she's a teenager. It's a constant whiplash. Not saying she can't pull off being in her 20s it's just times she's suppose to be mature and smart but in the show she's only 3 years older than Wei Yun. She's trying to act like she knows it all but then she acts like a kid and plays clueless female. It's too wide of a discrepancy for me at times. Flip side is DYX is in his 30s playing someone in either late teens or early 20s and he's basically staying in character.  It's not this huge shift up and down. Or the actress playing Tuantuan, also in her 30s and playing a teenager basically but sticking to that characters age...but Victoria is all over the place and I just don't get it.

Anyway...unpausing and going back to the show. I find the whole ordeal at the Princess mansion just too convenient and an awful plan that thanks to the plot armor works out. Like it doesn't seem suspicious she just automatically selects that one place to hold a banquet?

Hanmei's look says yep he finds it strange too which also makes him a bit more suspicious

Ah jealousy is back

Yep...good question Hanmei, her excuse is still pretty weak

Poor Princess, guess that's why she likes Hanmei so much

Well at least the Princess didn't fall for the act, I would have really thought she was dumb if she did

I AGREE!

Does she really not suspect Hanmei?

Can I just say THANK YOU for thinking logically, hopefully this means we aren't going to go through a bunch of angst and him just being dumb and torturing himself. We'll see though.

See...Chu Jin honestly isn't changing her ways and she's awful, she still hasn't apologized

I hate that Song Wenchang likes her

Gu Chusheng...dude...right in front of your wife???

Poor wife...

She is SO obvious who her objective is...

You guys, if he's been betraying the country for so long...do you really think he's that dumb?

This is such an awkward banquet

...I am so confused how she thinks this will work out for her when they realize it's not the weapon she said it was or they don't find anyone...or how about the fact everyone else can tell it's fake.

https://i.redd.it/z0q5p9jifczf1.gif

Also...I'm confused by this scene, Song Wenchang is adorable for picking up chopsticks and trying to protect Chu Jin but why does Chu Jin stop him? She just immediately knows it's fake? Or is she just like...sit down you can't do anything lol

https://i.redd.it/0plskapjfczf1.gif

She didn't think to check around her before slicing her arm open? Again, I do feel bad for the Duke's daughter

Wait, so who is that guy? Is Yao Yong trying to get rid of her here too?

https://i.redd.it/nleifvonfczf1.gif

See, as soon as someone examined her wound they would have known it was not done with the knife she mentioned, she really should have just said someone tried to kill her

https://i.redd.it/x4sq47mofczf1.gif

She's lucky that Tuantuan and the Princess are willing to lie for her

https://i.redd.it/z5nugogpfczf1.gif

I see her sister doesn't care much about her...

The heck...did Gu Chusheng really just save her?

https://i.redd.it/7bl007qtfczf1.gif

Episode 15

Is this how he dies? Surely not, we still have a decent amount of the show left

Oh, look at her sister caring now, maybe she can be redeemed

Does she let go of Gu Chusheng on purpose? Surely she didn't know Wei Yun would be at the bottom to catch her...but also, nice catch Wei Yun lol

https://i.redd.it/ufsvvmgvfczf1.gif

You feel slightly sorry for Gu Chusheng at this moment but then you remember...hey...he's married but also...he did take an arrow to the back for her, so I mean, there's that at least

Is anyone going to help out Gu Chusheng? He did get shot in the back...

Having the Princess ask you to stay...You should have seen that coming...she really is lucky she isn't dead to plot something at the Princess's place.

I kind of feel like she should just tell her

Well...he's trying at least

See, Mrs. Gu is still a good person and trying to cover up for him

Ok, I kind of take it back, not that she's a horrible person but she knows how her dad is, she knows what it means when he takes revenge.

Damn, the Princess is savage and a bit crazy

So Hanmei is actually originally from the North

I wonder how true that's going to be

https://preview.redd.it/lc6krtkyfczf1.jpg?width=864&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a75b9ca773fca4d719491d7117e8e0c8f3afe108

So she really wanted to marry him...

Wait, I want to know if there's a reason like her dad forced him or is it just him saying, surely you know why I married you

https://preview.redd.it/18cmp360gczf1.jpg?width=864&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5aac0e883c638de6b15fbd2b348ea90de3c52e8

Swoon at this line and facial expression

https://preview.redd.it/hj4ua1s0gczf1.jpg?width=864&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6575ffb23cfb8df812a21757506bc073e2cdfe10

At least his the sister in law helped...bold of him to ask her to try to search her scary bad cousin's office...that could definitely get her killed

lol servant... she looks disappointed...did you confess to her?

I do feel bad for the brother over here knowing his sister keeps making these plans without consulting him and putting herself in danger

https://i.redd.it/2yp542u2gczf1.gif

Poor Chu Linyang

https://i.redd.it/6maprfj3gczf1.gif

Poor Duke's Daughter...she really just now figured out he married her because her father threatened marriage or death? That does have to be a hard blow to your ego. I mean, she has to understand his side right? Not that I excuse his side by the way

https://i.redd.it/nghm3s94gczf1.gif

Wei Yun is more level headed and acting more mature than Chu Yu, I get her disappointment, but she hasn't really been going at this in a smart way.

He has it bad...

https://i.redd.it/2mrs1q45gczf1.gif

...so does he...

https://preview.redd.it/fpfjzaj6gczf1.jpg?width=864&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39907993120824c68a2058568ada5b57a457c513

Sigh I hit my limit on pics so I had to pick and choose...
