Does GERD ever go away?
Can it actually get better?
I’ve started to have bad acid problems last year on and off until now. It was an extremely stressful time in my life as I was planning my wedding and caring for my sick grandmother. We had to place her in a retirement home and sell her house. It was honestly terrible. Finally, in July of this year she moved into a place where there is 24/7 care and I got married in September.
So the stress has gone down a lot. We sold my grandmothers house which was very stressful as my parents, husband and I had to empty out a home she lived in for 45 years.
So I’ve had on and off gastritis after a round of antibiotics and Advil due to a tooth infection in May. Then I got a root canal in June. So stress again. Gastritis went away after July and things were alright in August. But then early October I ate some Thanksgiving dinner, had stuffing with onions, peppers, etc. had other foods with tomatoes, and BAM! Now I’ve had heart burn daily.
I’ve changed my diet, but haven’t been completely strict on it. I’ve also started walking daily for a month now after every meal. I’ve been drinking chamomile tea daily and recently tried slipper elm. I’ve been on and off on Pepcid taking 10-20mg daily. But very on and off.
Last year in September, I had blood work done, abdominal ultrasound, and tested negative for h pylori.
Will this ever go away? I see my doctor next month. Maybe I need a stronger med like PPI. I am currently a bit better heart burn wise but my throat just feels raw and burning. I have health anxiety so thinking about it makes things worse.
