What's a good amount for a steak gift card?

Hi steak lovers, odd question, sorry. My FIL loves a good steak, kind of guy that will order special cuts from states away kinda thing. For his birthday, his three kids and their spouses are pitching in to get him a gift card for steak.

They're being cagey about what they're contributing and saying "just pay what you can." I appreciate the free will, but I have never bought a steak in my life- from one of three couples, what's a good amount?? Is $25 too low, is $100 crazy?? I'm probably overthinking this but I don't want to be the cheap ass or the overachiever.
