pilling an anxious cat
hi all, i have a really anxious cat that needs to take daily anxiety medication. we have tried literally everything to get her to take her pills: hiding it in her food, hiding it in those cat gogurt things, putting it in a capsule so she can't taste it, and we've even tried the transdermal ear gel. Every time we try something, it works for a day or two until she figures out what we're doing and stops taking the medicine (or in the case for the gel, now refuses to get near us if she can tell we're going to put it on her ears). She's extremely skittish.
Our last resort is just grabbing her and shoving the pill down her throat, but after trying that once she'll hide somewhere in the house every time we come near her. I don't want to traumatize her or lose her trust, but I truly don't know what else to do.
For context, she's on the medication because we got a new kitten and the stress made her start peeing everywhere (but she was anxious enough before that happened so i think the medicine would benefit her anyways).
thanks yall!
