(More) Locally Hosted Smart Lock Recommendations

Support

Follow up to my last post

My original requirements were:

  • A device that can be completely self-hosted (this is the most important)
  • Anything Zigbee or Tuya is preferred since I'm already in those ecosystems
    • I forgot to mention Tuya in my last post and I've since converted everything to local use only with tuya-local
  • Don't want anything biometric, keypad with physical buttons only
  • Apple HomeKey integration would be a nice to have
  • Backup physical key in case the battery runs out

And I ended up buying a Kwikset 914 Zigbee and an Ultraloq U100 since it works with HomeKey. I've narrowed down what I'm looking for out of a smart lock some more and would appreciate some more guidance

  • The ability to add/remove codes from within HA or an HA companion
    • This wasn't possible with ZHA but was sort of doable with Z2M. There was no list of users and codes, just the ability to set an ID and add a code. It worked alright
  • Something $200 US or less
    • I really have no need for a smart lock other than a few small quality of life things, so dropping big money isn't in the cards
  • Would like some clarification on if HomeKey is even doable without adding it to Apple Home on my phone. It would seem not and that would make perfect sense, but idk if there's some way to still make that work with HA
    • I can't even really find many locks that have HomeKey support so this isn't the biggest deal

The Kwikset is being returned because, quite honestly, it's a piece of garbage. Idk if I got a lemon or if I somehow broke it while testing it out before installing it in the door, but it kept blinking red and would only turn one way when a lock/unlock command was sent. I think it kept trying to lock and wasn't registering that it had locked or something broke inside of it or something. The keyway also spins beyond where it should stop for locking and unlocking. I might get another one to see if this was just bad luck

The Ultraloq is quite nice and worked well with Apple Home, but still seems to need their official app in order to fully use everything like adding more than one PIN. I was only able to add one during initial setup along with enabling HomeKey and there wasn't anywhere in the device settings to add another. I also wasn't able to add it to HA as a straight up HomeKit device, though I question how much functionality I would've gotten out of it that way anyway

So what are my options?
