Non-Resident to Resident CCW and/or FID

Concealed Carry Permit

I might be relocating to NJ at some point and have been researching the CCW process down there. At first it seemed like I could apply for Non-Res permit (good for when visiting/if I don't move) and then when I move to NJ I can change my address no problem and apply for FID.

However, in talking to different training facilities/trainers, it seems that there is no clear consensus on what would be better/doable/cheaper.

I've heard that it's as described above or:

> It's not worth it to get non-res then switch it to Res if I would be moving soon, as switching all my info from NJSP to my local police would be paying fees all over again and a pain

> I can do it but I should get my non res FID as well to make switch easier?

What has everyone been told/know? I've gotten some great contradictory advice and want to see what others think.

Does seem that wait time for a Res FID and CCW isn't awful at all so if I wait until I move it's not the end of the world. But if it's not much money, and if I don't end up moving, applying ASAP as a Non-res seems to be the way to go.
