Why do so many balding men have longer hair?

I know, man with all different length hair deal with balding.

I’ve noticed that there are quite a few men with thinned hair that have pretty decent length hair(like past the chin).

I’m curious if you all think that is due to the fact that maybe they already had long hair and they have more of an affinity for their hair so it’s harder to let it go when it start starts to thin or are they growing it out?

I hope my curiosity comes across with this post and it’s not perceived as judgment!
