I have more people in my life than even and yet I still feel alone with my emotions and stress. I fear I will break soon.
I made a serious stride beginning of last year to get my life back in control, and I had amazing success. I moved away from my parents, I got a new job *back* in sales(which was my original industry) and even finished some community college semesters. On top of all of this I managed to find some new friends, reconnect with some family, and am now in a happy new relationship.
Well now end of year and start of 2026, I am in a sales slump — the worst slump I have ever been in. I have had multiple streaks of seeing little to no foot traffic. I have burned through all of my leads I have generated since my 6 months on the floor here, so I am basically dependent on people walking through the door and it’s been DEAD. I have an amazing management team who encourages me and tells me I am great and that this will subside and I believe it, but MAN WHEN??? It feels like this month has been nothing but handing me nothing but L’s this month and my bills DO NOT CARE! The few sales I do manage to make, guess what? The products are back-ordered, meaning the order that WOULD HAVE earned me commission this pay period is going to be pushed to the next check, but I don’t need it on the next check, I need it on THIS ONE. Surely I can see a guest today and close and get this check right. Closing time! Nobody came(again). 0 the board again! Let’s check Teams, oh hey, the OTHER STORE you just worked at the other day just sold 8K! I’m working there tomorrow. Surely this will be my chance. Tomorrow comes, 0 on the board again. It’s been feeling like nothing but this sort of day to day stress, It’s gotten to the point it isn’t just attacking my wallet, it’s attacking my whole identity.
I do not want to quit, frankly because doing so would just feel like I’m giving up on myself, and it would just be this same pattern at another sales organization. I know all it will take is for me to just get 1 GODDAMN WIN this month. But this month I’m fucking Tony Ferguson.
I am tired of venting this stress to my brother. He has been my desperate outlet for me to emotionally dump onto about my work stress, but he himself is stressed out with his business and it’s unfair of me to add onto that. My therapist doesn’t come back from vacation until next week. And now on top of that, MY GIRLFRIEND IS TEXTING ME all happy about her day and wanting to talk to me all bubbly. I don’t have anyone else to vent to and I DEFINITELY DONT WANT TO DO IT TO MY GIRLFRIEND! It’s one thing to tell her about my bad days, but when the majority of those days *lately* have been bad, she is just going to think like this is my normal all around. I know you are supposed to be vulnerable with one another and that it is okay to have bad days. But what tf do you do when it’s bad WEEKS? I absolutely hate having to bottle up my emotions or worse lie, but I can’t keep pretending like everything is okay. There is only so many times I can say “work was okay, nobody showed up again”. How tf do you guys do it? How do you stay strong and not let the weight of stress overtake you? I’m putting in more effort at my job and refuse to give up, and I know this slump isn’t forever, but how the hell do I mediate for now?
