Neurology costs for epilepsy

TLDR My cat was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. I would like to get her taken to a neurologist but i understand there can be hefty costs associated with what they recommend. Would like to get an idea of charges if anyone has gone through something similar. Located in TX if that’s helpful.

About September 2025 my cat (1F) had her first seizure. Since then, she’s had two more and was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. She’ll be starting pheno in about a week but i would like to get her seen at a neurologist. (I have a feeling i’ll be saving a pretty penny staying at home more often to keep up with her mediation.)

I love this little cat and I feel like if I have it in my power to find the cause, then I should try. I’ve been getting quoted about $290 for an initial consultation. I understand they would likely recommend many things from here - various scans and tests - but i have no way of seeing prices for these unless i go in and get a quote.

Before i spend nearly $300 for a consultation, i wanted to see if i would even be able to pay for the following recommended scans or treatment. If anyone has taken their cat in for neuro - could you share what this looked like for you?
