The Fatum project nearly ruined my life and I think I switched timelines
Back in 2019 I was one of the earliest adopters of the Fatum Project (early primitive version of Randonautica) back when it was still a telegram project and a Reddit thread. What happens is that you got sent a location via a true randomness generator, somewhere you would normally never show up at in the regular flow of your life. By kind of „stepping out of your matrix“ you’re supposed to experience unusual things and experiences. Many users of the Randonautica app had some truly bad experiences as I later found out. I basically was a bored young adult looking to explore my town and I also wanted to feel edgy I guess. I came to regret this decision for years.
The experience itself was kind of creepy and not what I expected, I remember having a curious intention. I ended up in an abandoned alleyway and I remember feeling like I did something wrong, like I didn’t belong there. But I went home and brushed it off. That was kind of in the beginning of the year 2019 and it marked the beginning of one of the worst periods of my life because from there on, everything went rapidly downhill in an almost comical fashion.
First, shortly after, I reported my elderly neighbour dead after coming back from a business trip and finding out my neighbours TV had been blasting for 3 days straight, you could hear it in front of his house. My other neighbours who are usually your overly concerned suburbian white neighbourhood watchguards heard it too, but did absolutely nothing. They let my poor neighbour passed away in his house for all these days. Their reaction was weirdly unbothered, passive and detached. It was bizarre. The police turned up and everything and I remember the police men looking sick in the face when they opened the house.
Then, my close friendship group fell apart over literally nothing. I had one friend lash out on me in a way that made no sense, other people where there and were equally confused. I remember her looking at me with almost psychotic eyes and breaking the friendship up over dinner. We never spoke again even though I tried countless times to talk it out. That was a friendship of 7+ years. It literally made no sense, and her behaviour was bizarre, it was like she was another person. Months after, my best friend, the kind of friend you can call in the middle of the night, who was like a sister to me, organised a move to another city without telling me, which was wildly out of character. Afterwards she consistently tried to sabotage me in various ways, from heathy food choices to career choices to relationships. Picture Gríma wormtongue. She also grew in a short period of time weirdly cold, detached and hostile. It freaked me out. I had to cut her out of my life almost entirely and I‘m still grieving over these friendships.
My professional life and private life fell apart in every way possible. First I was let go during COVID. Fine, that happened to many people. Then a small business I started was met with the most bizarre and nonsensical hurdles, it didn’t make sense how many weird obstacles I faced. Every resource I turned to was either hostile, incompetent, and completely detached from any common sense. Whatever I touched didn’t work. It was like I was a the other side of a magnet, pushed away from baseline luck and success. Also, it was like I disappeared. People started to not remember ever having met me, even though we had spoken several times. Some tried to SIT on me as if I wasn’t even there. I got walked into on the street. It was nuts.
Since this disastrous time I have turned my life around little by little. I basically decided I would not succumb to this bizarre timeline. This was accompanied by deep deep depression, dark night of the soul level shit. With the last bits of energy in me I focussed on the good things in life and good things started happening to me again. But the behaviour of people has not changed at all and I feel I’m still stuck in this mess. People are still insanely self absorbed, narcissistic, hostile, passive and cruel in ways I don’t remember to have happened before 2015. 2019 marked a sharp sharp decline for me. Sometimes I feel tiny bits of the time before, but it feels out of reach.
