traumatized cat
hi everyone. i recently took in a 1y7mth old female cat (spayed), i’ve had her for a week and half now. she was given to me because her old owner had another female cat who would torment and bully her. therefore, she has severe trust issues and hides under my bed most of the time. at first, she would never leave under the bed unless i was gone. now, she will get out from under the bed to use the litter box, eat, play predator with a toy, and rest on my bed. however, if i get up from my bed she will immediately hide again. basically, she has severe PTSD. I understand that it will take a while for her to gain her trust, and I’m okay with that, I know that’s it’s a process. I’m just worried about the fact that she won’t let me near her, how will I be able to clip her nails, grab her to take her to the vet, etc? Another recent problem is that she cries really loudly at night, wanting to leave my room and explore the rest of my house and play, my guess is that she gets the zoomies around that time since she knows the rest of the house is asleep so it’s the perfect opportunity for her. It’s making me lose so much sleep and I’m started to get worried it will always be like this, I need tips on how to manage this. I love her so much and I don’t want this to become a reoccurring problem, because the losing sleep is a big issue. (I am from the U.S., not a minor, and can afford vet care).
