Genuine or intentional delivery delay?

I don’t know if the dealer is intentionally delaying the delivery of my car or it’s a genuine delay at this point. Here’s what happened!

I booked KIA Seltos on lease towards the end of the last month and before signing the papers, I asked the duration to get the car. The salesperson said around 2 weeks which should have been at the max around 15th January keeping in mind all the holidays. I was told that I will be contacted by the finance manager to carry out paperwork and discuss about lease protection plan. I was given the details of this protection plan to which I said no. A few days later in January, after providing the VIN number, the salesperson now says around 3-4 weeks for delivery.

When asked about the original duration, the reason given was the trim and the color I booked suddenly picked up in demand and it’s a delay at KIA’s end. Can it be the real reason or it’s a response for me saying no to their lease protection plan?
