Where to stay in Krabi

Me and some friends are flying to Krabi soon. Where would you recommend we stay? We were planning on Ao Nang or Railay Beach but saw there's a lot of negativity about them. Where else in that vicinity would you recommend for 3-4 days? We plan to go on days trips out to different places
