Bloomington Severe Weather Emergency Shelter (BSWERS) needs volunteers in order to open

Please share this widely! The Bloomington Severe Weather Emergency Shelter still needs volunteers this week to open (and all winter). 1-3 hr shifts, 7:30 pm-8 am. Easy tasks (set up, check in, monitor at night, check out, clean up). They need at least 2 volunteers per shift or they can't open. No experience needed. To learn more, submit a volunteer form or email btownsevereshelter@gmail.com.

The above form is not a commitment, it just lets them know what shifts you're interested in. Then a few days before the night they want to open, they'll send an email with a link to sign up for that night, and you can select which shift you will come in. You can sign up with a friend. You can sign up for just one single shift and never come again and it will still help. No regular commitment or anything. Shifts for all types - from early risers to night owls.

I don't represent them, I just volunteer there and know they need volunteers. I can speak to my experience as a volunteer but please direct questions to the volunteer coordinator at btownsevereshelter@gmail.com.

Please share with your friends, enemies, lovers, haters, family, neighbors, coworkers, church, book club, D&D group, workout buddies, sports team, polycule, knitting circle, anybody.

This shelter rotates between First United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church downtown, but it is not religious, and accepts guests and volunteers of all faiths, genders, and orientations. Actually it prioritizes women and trans guests because there are fewer other shelters for them, sometimes nowhere.

They post on their Facebook page which church they're at each night.
