Internet not working all over my area. Xfinity says it must be my router.

My home internet is not working properly. Works for a few seconds, then doens't work for minutes at a time. This has been going on for a week. It is like this for my home, my neighbors home, my workplace, my daughter's workplace, Everyone in town is talking about it. Xfinity says the issue is with my router and they have heard no other reports of this, despite numerous neighbors and business owners reporting the same thing.
