Question about Bilt Housing Points Calculation
Can you help me understand whether I’m calculating the housing points correctly?
When Bilt calculates housing points for each cycle, do they use the housing expense within the same billing cycle to calculate the points?
My understanding is that we can choose how much housing expense to pay through Bilt by making a partial payment via the mortgage portal.
If that’s the case, I believe I can control how many points I earn by adjusting the housing expense amount. For example, in a billing cycle, I spend $1,500 on housing:
- With Option 2 (using Bilt Cash), I would earn:
Housing points = 1500 × 0.04 × 1000 / 30 = 2,000 points
- If I instead set my mortgage payment to $3,000, with Option 1 (spending 50%), I would earn:
Housing points = 3000 × 0.75 = 2,250 points
- If I set my mortgage payment to $6,000, with Option 1 (spending 25%), I would earn:
Housing points = 6000 × 0.5 = 3,000 points
Based on this, it seems that if we can control our mortgage payment so that non-housing expenses stay at 25% with Option 1, we would earn the highest number of points.
Please let me know if I’ve misunderstood anything or miscalculated any of the numbers.
