Reverb credit in exchange for not doing a return

So I bought a smallish item ($67) from an established seller with a return policy. I decided I didn't like it and even though it would cost me $15 in shipping to return, plus a 5% restocking fee, I decided to return it. I happened to read the returns process highlighted in the email which mentioned I could buy a shipping label through Reverb. That brought me to their support chat and instead of giving me a cost for the label, Reverb offered me the full purchase price as a credit if I kept the item, and I accepted that offer. (I figure I can unload the item on CL for cheap and come out ahead.)

Anyway, my question is how common is this? To me it's odd because I was paying the entire cost of the return -- there was no harm to the seller other than the item going back into their inventory. And I know it's Reverb credit, not quite the same as cash, but I'll have no problem spending that much on my next purchase. I'm not at all complaining -- I'm quite happy. I guess after reading so many horror stories in this sub, I just wanted to highlight a good experience and maybe give other folks an option that they might not know about (if Reverb does indeed make this offer frequently.)
