Novel Translation: How Dare You
Ep 13: Xiahou Dan comforts Yu Wanuin over her maid's death. She says she'll adjust to the setting with more time, but he tells that he will do any dirty work so that she doesn't have to change. (awww) Prince Duan gets an update on Yu Wanuin and it turns out the consort her maid attacked was plotting against her. This further convinces Prince Duan that she can see the future.
After a very important hotpot meeting, they write letters to Prince Duan together
Bai offers to take Yu Wanuin away again, but she declines. Then she writes a letter to Prince Duan informing him of Bai's departure. Then Prince Duan meets Xie Yonger. She says she'll like a hot house flower, who can do nothing but wait to be admired. He gives a dramatic speech about his Tragic BackstoryTM and gets Xie Yonger back on his side. They kiss (ew, not pictured here).
Mr. Bei makes a retractable knife based on Yu Wanuin's design. Bai tells Xiahou Dan that it would better if Yu Wanuin left. He says he will protect her and favour only her (awww). Yu Wanuin also told him she doesn't want to live for her own happiness but for the people of the country. We see the diviner who knows their souls aren't original:
Prince Duan's men take out a martial arts user based on Yu Wanuin's advice. They think he's the Empress Dowager's spy.
Baby Diary! Little Xiahou Dan is told by the Empress Dowager that he doesn't have to study, this is a very bad thing (he'll be incompetent), but he doesn't know that because he's an actual child, soul and body. He tends his SOS flowers.
Ep 14: Bei and Bai took out the original assassin and then staged the scene at the brothel. The knife Mr. Bei made earlier made the fake stabs. The main couple discusses their success. Bai left Yu Wanuin a hairpin, to her surprise Xiahou Dan doesn't act jealous about it.
Relax on a rooftop after success
Scholar Li wants to defend Yu Wanuin to the emperor, very dramatically because he's 100% drama. He is embarrassed to find that she's fine and with the emperor already. Bai leaves to do a secret mission from the emperor. Poor Scholar Li is having a hard time at work, being told to constantly redo his work. Er Long wants to use plots to sort out the Ministry of Revenue, but Li is still resistant to using underhanded tricks. I love Er Long explaining how laws can backfire. Then she says she will retire after this crisis so she doesn't become corrupt. They all try to make Scholar Li feel better about his job.
Xie Yonger and Prince Duan had sex, and now she's panicking about her chance of being pregnant. She goes to see Xiahou Dan. He sends Yu Wanuin away and she isn't happy about it. She decides to stay and watch. By the way, from what I can hear, Xiahou Dan calls her by her title (a'fei) but the subtitles say "my dear" which sounds way more intimate, but again, I do not speak Chinese. Edit: Thank you for the comment: Ai = love/beloved and fei as in consort. She tries to seduce Xiahou Dan.

Xiahou Dan finds Yu Wanuin in the secret tunnel. She's embarrassed but he's clearly happy about it. Yu Wanuin reminds herself that staying alive is more important than love but we don't believe her. The Yan envoy has arrived but no one wants to let them in. Yu Wanuin is told that Xiahou Dan is sick.
Baby Diary! The Empress Dowager is trying to keep Little Dan ignorant. He requests a study companion, Prince Duan is provided. Unfortunately, Prince Duan is punished whenever Little Dan makes a mistake, This is the cause of Duan's hatred. Little Dan has a headache so the master makes all the other princes suffer to make him "feel better."
