Day 21 - Share Your Selesnya Cards

We’re back for Day 21! If you want more info on this series, please refer to the original post. Yesterday we discussed Blue Sorceries. Today we’re talking Selesnya cards. Here’s what I run in my Legacy+ cube, 438 cards (on my way to 450), 7 or 8 on the Strix scale, basically no planeswalkers, and purposely powered-down lands:

[[Eladamri's Call]] is basically an instant-speed [[Demonic Tutor]] at this point, considering how powerful creatures have become in recent years. And with Green shifting more into creature combos, I think this is Selesnya’s best card by a mile. Go grab Nadu, Bill, Cat, Icetill, Uro, Titania, Baloth, etc. Call also lets you run another beautiful old-bordered gold card.

[[Arwen, Mortal Queen]] is a good card that probably doesn’t get played as much as it should because Selesnya sucks. Arwen typically overperforms, protects combo pieces like Nadu or Icetill, bricks aggro, and has the wonderful flavor of “marrying” whatever card she gives the boost to, recalling one of the sweetest scenes in modern cinema.

[[Knight of the Reliquary]] remains in for the Lands decks. I run a number of damaged cards for aesthetics reasons, and my Knight has random thin lines of bright paint splashed across it. I have no idea why; I bought it damaged off TCG for $1. In my mind, a kid played this card unsleeved during arts & crafts period during school or camp, and paint accidently flicked across it. As someone who played a ton of Magic as a kid in classes and periods where we were not supposed to have our cards out, I really want this to be true lol.

[[Torsten, Founder of Benalia]] is technically Selesnya, so it appears in this section, but obviously it’s cheated into play 95% of the time. What Torsten lacks in evasion, he makes up for in card draw and go-wide. A fine [[Natural Order]] target or [[Gaea's Cradle]] payoff.

Notable omissions: I ran and enjoyed [[Shelinda, Yevon Acolyte]], but ultimately decided that Arwen was more consistent. Shelinda could be kinda hit or miss, depending on whether you cast her on curve or not.

What are you all running?

Tomorrow we will discuss Noncreature 3-4 Mana Artifacts
