Is this a good excuse to reschedule date fifteen minutes after confirming?

We had a date planned for tonight. I had just confirmed we were still on, he seemed excited and about fifteen minutes later get a text asking if we can reschedule for tomorrow because his friend just came into town from another state and was coming to his house. When we were planning the date, I did give the option of Friday or Saturday but agreed on Friday. Would you give him the benefit of the doubt or assume he isn’t interested? First date.
