It's practically been swept under the rug but the EOTC's leadership, except the patriarch, played a fundamental role in the Tigray genocide. They have not recognized this nor asked for forgiveness. This is the reason why the TOTC exists. Tigray's plight hasn't ended, please inform yourself.

In 2021, the patriarch of the EOTC, Abune Mathias, bravely spoke out against the Tigray genocide while on house arrest and while the rest of the EOTC leadership worked to silence his voice and continue the Tigray genocide. (1)

Here you can find a letter dated to the Tigray genocide from Abba Elias, archbishop of the EOTC in Sweden and Scandinavia, that called on people to donate at least SEK 1,000 (109 dollars) each to help the Ethiopian army (1). Branches of the EOTC from around the world did this.
