Main characters:
Zhang Ling He as Xie Zheng/Yan Zheng, Marquis of Wu'an
Tian Xi Wei as Fan Changyu/???
Ep 18: Sui Yuanqing wakes up in party town (Qingfeng Stronghold). We all knew that cliff wouldn't kill him. He fights the boss's sister one handed and then kisses her.
Yu Qianqian is fleeing from bandits. She is "saved" by Qi Min/Sui Yuanhuai
The two brothers plan how they will bring down Xie Zheng. Sui Yuanqing now has control of the bandits. He wants to go capture Fan Changyu. The entire town we know and love gets destroyed and the people slaughtered. Everyone who knows Fan Changyu is captured for information. Constable Wang fights back but is killed. The magistrate's daughter has more stones than her dad:
Madam Song is the only one to betray Fan Changyu and dies anyway. Creepizoid Sui Yuanqing finds the family portrait and then finds Aunt Zhao hiding in a cellar but THEN!
Sui Yuanqing says he'll spare the people hiding if she comes with him, Fan Changyu stabs him just a little bit but goes along for a while with him until she can run away and make them chase her. Gossip Grandma saves Fan Changning! Good for her. I officially forgive Gossip Grandma, so she will henceforth be known as Grandma Kang. Fan Changyu stops running because it's time to butcher some bandits
Xie Zheng gets a message from his uncle and he sends back a snarky reply about being hard to kill. Then Sunsun (the bird) arrives with blood on his feathers and Xie Zheng runs off to Lin'an. Grandma Kang prepares to sacrifice herself for the children
Grandma Kang goes down fighting. She saved Changning 😭😭😭
Fan Changyu is chased to the edge of a cliff:
Stop saying that you creepy brothers!
She jumps rather than stay with Sui Yuanqing. Xie Zheng slaughters the entire stronghold but doesn't find Fan Changyu. He sends his bird off to find her. She was caught by branches at the bottom of a cliff. Novel note: I think he's supposed to be shirtless? Yes? Because he wraps her up in all his clothes? Confirm this for me. We were robbed
He sends his men off to desecrate some bodies in revenge (as one does). Fan Changyu is too cold and won't wake up. An old woman says she needs "scraping" treatment (commonly called coining, you can learn more here)
We love to see a man cry over his wife
Xie Zheng does the treatment because the woman is blind and her shirt has to be off. Fan Changyu briefly wakes up and then starts dreaming about her parents. Xie Zheng repeats what Fan Changyu told him earlier about killing aura warding off ghosts.
though he has killed people not pigs
He puts the blue hair ribbon back in her hair. Xie Zheng then promises to marry Fan Changyu and says that if she doesn't reply she's agreeing. Girl is unconscious, but okay dude.
Sui Yuanqing sends the bandit lady after Fan Changyu, but it turns out she already captured Fan Changning. Li Huaian is in Lin'an surveying the damage and looking for Fan Changyu. She wakes up at the blind lady's house and is ready to fight her way out. She escapes with the blind old lady. Then she almost falls off a cliff trying to save her present from Xie Zheng and is pulled up by a masked man. He's pretty angry she almost died for a wrist guard.
Fan Changyu goes back to Lin'an with Li Huaian to see the fallout. Fortunately, Aunt Zhao has survived. She learns that Changning is missing and faints. Sui Yuanqing is being The Worst to Changning, and gets kicked for it. At least Bandit Lady has some basic humanity.
Qi Min/Sui Yuanhuai is being just as lovely as his brother, slaughtering craftswomen because Yu Qianqian doesn't like her "presents." She still won't do as he says she he threatens her (their) child. She bluffs and tells Sui Yuanhuai to kill Bao'er, but finally relents. He's like, "Yay, I can threaten you with our son. Our family is back together!"
Back in Lin'an, Fan Changyu's aunt and grandpa are also dead. She's digging graves.
She sets off to find her husband and Changning.
These episodes were heavy and the promos... more yikes to come!
Novel wishes: I want to see Fan Changyu >!take on a bear all by herself.!<Dare I hope we get >!the aphrodisiac scene???!<
