Physical Discs Not Considered Purchases

I find it extremely disappointing that I buy a physical disc and the game store doesn't recognize it as a purchase. Because it doesn't recognize it as a purchase, I can't rate the game, but most infuriating is that I can't choose which version of the game to download from the disc.

Specifically, my family owns Sackboy on disc for PS5. I have two PS5 controllers, a bunch of PS4 controllers (all but one with stick drift which is a whole other complaint,) and four players. I can't choose to download the PS4 version of Sackboy from my PS5 disc meaning I only have two usable controllers. I paid for the higher version of the game, where are my options?? If I buy Sackboy from the PSN store I get to choose my version so why am I being punished for buying the disc?

Anyone else have the same beef with discs not being considered purchases, even when the disc is in the disc drive?
