Controller issues after a Windows Restore

So I've had an ally since last Christmas, and I made the decision to switch to Bazzite few months ago. I wasn't playing anything that absolutely needed Windows and I got really tired of Armory Crate starting in the middle of a gaming session. No regrets. If you prefer Windows that's cool too.

I managed to pick up a another Z1E used on FB mkt and I restored it to Windows 11. The plan is to get it running and give it to my kid who's been asking for a handheld other than a Switch.

Things have certainly changed in a few months. It was about the time of the release of the Xbox Ally that I switched to Bazzite. Upon trying to set up Windows on the new alt and playing a steam game, I found that none of the controller buttons are working. I tried two games (Hollow Knight and DS1 Remastered) and neither would function properly. HK at least recognized the left joystick and I was able to move around but I couldn't do anything else. Pressing the B button was like hitting Start. I tried messing with the controller settings a bit but nothing was working. I will note they worked fine when I bought it and tried it before the restoration.

Because of parental control stuff and limiting Internet access, I'll be installing Bazzite, but I was wondering if there was something I'm missing. Why aren't the controller buttons working in Windows. I wasn't having that issue on my ally before switching.

Any thoughts?
