I hate having natural hair color since my VP shunt, help me with suggestions pleas
Good morning everyone, I need your help. Sorry for the lengthy post ahead of time. I had my VP shunt placed 9/5/25, and they had to shave almost my entire right side. I was completely devastated because my hair was who I was and how I expressed myself. I am the person who loves her peek-a-boo fashion hair colors, with blonde highlights on top. After the surgery, and a lengthy conversation with my husband to weigh out the pros and cons, we decided to leave the hair uncut. So the uncut hair was past my shoulders. I was very insecure about my hair and since it was winter I wore beanies all day everyday. My old beautician left me during the surgery process, so I had to find another one. That was a long process because I wanted to find the right fit. I did find one that also has IIH, I explained everything to her everything up front at a consultation, she mentioned that if I redo my highlights it will show how short my hair is where it's re-growing and suggested I go all one color (that broke me, since I was already insecure about my hair). My natural hair color is a darker dirty blonde, and I cannot stand it. I do not feel like myself and I need a change and with a quickness. What I need help with is, is there a specific name brand of hair color treatment you recommend that will not damage my newly growing hair. Since the surgery my hair is more dryer, and has a mind of its own, it will not lay down and is impossible to train for the part. I have had a trim since the surgery and we decided to go with an asymmetrical bob, with the right side being shorter and transitioning longer as it goes around. The back side was a little tricky because I have had a V shaved up the base of my neck to help with my migraines since my thick hair is so heavy (the V helped tremendously for migraines). I really hope all of this makes sense. I have had dyslexia since elementary school, but since my surgery I get everything all confused, words backwards or missing when speaking, and some days I don't remember anything at all, and it's worse in the evenings than in the mornings. I hope you all have a wonderful day.
