Fate of Antonio de Oliveira Salazar

I know there's a post from 9 years ago seeking answers to this question, but that isn't really reliable anymore, isn't it?

Currently I'm pretty interested in the man who created the Estado Novo in Portugal (read: a corporatist Christian imperialistic conservative oligarchic backwards enclave that at least held itself together for as long as he was alive) from the period of chaos that is the First Portuguese Republic. Given that the Kingdom is still very much alive and Salazar isn't a particularly dumb man (his rule of 36 years indirectly succeeded a 16-year period of 8 Presidents and 45 ministries), what became of him in politics, and is there any lore explanation of his presence (or lack thereof)?
