Song for my father
You belong to the wildflowers
After your old bones have cracked
and crumbled in the soil
There they will reclaim
the bits of dehydrated marrow
Molecule and helix
shooting onward like an arrow
Blood and plasma spills until
they ripple to the sea
where the salt does crystallise
to rusted irony
Roots and webbed mycelium
are swaying underground
binding you together
they are singing you the sounds
of a cacophonistic symphony
Drop by drop
bit by bit
hyphal tip to bearded lip
arteries do fill with flowing
waters from above
You belong to the wildflowers
dandelions drink your bones
woodruff keep you warm
Until the sun upon the stones
summons summer storms
There you'll rise a final time
as pollen be dispersed
In the air propelled by
solar currents
unreversed

I've had this one laying around for four years, but I remember spending a lot of time getting the rhyme, imagery and rhythm working. All critique and feedback welcome!
