Yet another demon who doesn't know

Homebrew / Bootlegger

Umhymlich - Each night* a player dies; you may choose a player: they die instead. If an evil player dies: you wake a second time. [You think you are a good Townsfolk, but you are not]

Let me know if there is a better way to write this.

The idea is that the demon thinks that they are a townsfolk (how original), and do not know they are the demon. Naturally, there are some townsfolk that the demon shouldn't think that they are, but that can be up to Storyteller discretion, if the Demon thinks that they are a top 4 role, then it may be up to the Minions to convince the Demon that they shouldn't immediately nominate themselves. Or maybe the evil team is trying to pocket a good player by just saying they are the Umhymlich?

If the Umhymlich believes that they are a Townsfolk that chooses players, the first player they choose each night* dies, otherwise a player dies arbitrarily each night*. If a minion, or other evil player, dies as a result of the Demon killing them, the Umhymlich is put to sleep only to wake a second time, allowing them to kill again and likely signalling their true role. If a Minion, or other evil player, dies as a result of execution, you wake a second time at night, as well.

Most of the time the Umhymlich might sink a second kill, to either hide their demon role, hide their Minion, or some other reason. They could just go for it, however; after all, if there was an execution, then any of 3 dead players are potentially evil.

This role being on script should slightly alter the rules to accomodate its existence, like the Atheist. If a Townsfolk believes that they are the Umhymlich, they should be permitted to choose a player at night, even if their role wouldn't allow it. Through sheer coincidence, some Townsfolk may be able to convince themselves that they are, indeed, the Demon when they are not. It is unlikely to happen (unless the Storyteller is making the kills and decides to mess with a player), but the possibility should be present to offer some texture to the real Umhymlich's game.
