I was there too, and while it was advertised with a couple shitty rappers before him and a shortened set for him, he really did only play 4 songs (Dope Song, Smokin and Drinkin, Break It, and Dip), which even for a shortened set was pretty ridiculous. I understand tickets were only $14, but I still feel as though I got screwed by the whole thing.

honestly doesn't sound that bad, sure it could have been a lot better but I think this is slightly exaggerated as "most disappointing show possibly ever"

What made it worse was that he stood on stage and said "Its quality over quantity folks," played Dip, handed the mic off and left. The whole crowd stood around for like 10 min just waiting.

Don't feel too bad, the drinks would have cost $14 if the concert were in Australia.

That sounds more like a problem with the promoter, not Danny Brown.

I mean it sounds like it is 100% Danny Brown's fault. Issues with the venue or the advertising would be promoter. If it is a Danny Brown show and he can't play more than 3 tracks, that is on him.
Edit: Apparently it was even advertised as a short set. Idk if 3 or 4 songs count as a "short set" but I think OP might have got his hopes too up.

Look at the website for Toad's Place. It says he'll be doing a short set. This isn't Danny Brown's fault. This is with the promoter that only paid Danny to do a 10 minute set.
Also, the promoter does a lot more than advertising. They're the ones getting the talent and putting on the entire event.

No way dude, I've played shows were I got pushed back farther and farther, by the time I got the stage they told me I had ten minutes.

You also aren't as big of a star as Danny Brown.
Which do you think is more likely: Danny was high as shit or something and couldn't/didn't put on a good show? Or a no-name venue is gonna try to fuck over probably one of the bigger stars that they have in their line-up in the near future? I know people don't want to blame the guy they like, and I like Danny too, but its really the explanation that makes a lot more sense.

Danny's not that big of a star, and do you really think the venue cares? They got the cover charge and probably sold a bunch of drinks, they got theirs. Thing is, most venues are not run by hip hop heads. Danny's not a star, and most are too shortsighted to care whether or not he has potential to be and possibly come back.
None of which is to say I'm anywhere near DB in terms of popularity or stardom.

14$ dollar ticket and 4$ beer I'll take it. In Aus you'd be lookin at 70$ a ticket and 7-8$ a beer at gig venues. Sounds like a decent night

i was actually thinking about going to this but then I checked the toad's website and it said "Danny Brown will be doing a SHORT set", so I figured it wouldn't be worth it. guess I was right.

To be fair, $14 dollars isn't crazy cheap for a regular show, I saw flatbush zombies for I think $15, BUT it is way too much for about 12 minutes of performance.

I'm sorry. I saw him on tour with Kitty Pride and he was excellent played a hella long set and was a really fun act to watch. I was on good MDMA for the set though.

Man tough luck, but the most disappointing ever? Cmon, I paid 70 bucks to see A$AP Rocky and $9 a beer inside for a half hour long show that he was an hour late for, still enjoyed the fuck out of it.

Was that at the Oakdale? I was there for that one, the wait was shitty but he still played for a little bit.

A few friends of mine decided to stay at New Haven for a bit longer before going home for break to go to this show... Saying they're disappointed is an understatement.

To be fair, all these rappers are late. Fab had us waiting like 2 hours the first time I saw him. Same deal, bullshit opening acts that are terrible, djs and shit then FINALLY he comes out and does his set. Only difference is he performed for 70 minutes so I wasn't too mad by the end of the night. Next time, I showed up an hour after doors open and he came on within 30 minutes.

Damn, I hate hearing stuff like this. I went to the triple rock show (the famous dick-sucking event) and it was awesome aside from the obvious weirdness from that.

That sucks dude. In his defense, when I saw him on thr 2 High 2 Die tour, the show was fucking sick. But there's still no excuse for ripping off fans
