Excitement or bust?

Feels a little silly to ask but if not here where? šŸ˜‚
How do you guys contain your excitement when you interview somewhere that checks most if not all your boxes? I’ve learned the lesson of feeling like it’s in the bag and then get the generic email. I’ve literally deflated during rounds of interviews because I realized I wouldn’t trust the leadership of an interviewer as they briefly let their mask slip.

Sooo… with that being said I’ve been disappointed but don’t really know how to manage my expectations surrounding these interviews when they tell they have a product that solves problems, they have the data to prove it, they have tenured employees and haven’t even tapped into all of the markets they can with the right people to grow etc etc

I’m in the middle of the interview process and I’m waiting for my final to last round but hearing and ā€œfeelingā€ like the interviewer is genuine is getting me excited! Like maybe this is the next leap of faith in a sea of nonsense companies with all sorts of unmanageable chaos? Feels right but I can’t make them choose me.

Open to your perspective if you’ve been interviewing in this market! Are you just interviewing and not obsessing over perfectly impacting the next round? Waiting until they’re in their decision phase to get excited? Or just completely numb to until you get an offer?

Trying to stay realistic but a little smitten by the idea of finally being chose where I’d fit in SME wise…
