I need some kind advice for my newly adopted boy. Luie is a 5 yo neutered male that I adopted a month ago. He came from a home with four cats and was adopted because he was being picked on and excluded by the other cats.

For the first few weeks he happily used his litterbox, but one day I came home to find pee on a cardboard box in another room. This happened three days in a row, everytime in a new location, so I took him to the vet and he is perfectly healthy.

Because of the vet visit I changed his litter for a few days to collect a urine sample, and I also tried moving his litterbox to a few other locations. Right now, it is placed in the bedroom. I have ordered another litterbox which will arrive in a few days.

For the last couple of days he hasn’t been using the litterbox for peeing or pooping at all during the day. He only uses it at night after this rutine: Last night, he woke me up at 5 howling and running around. He went onto the litterbox (which is a top-entry box) and continued yelling but not using it. He kept running around the apartment and ended up peeing on the floor close to the litterbox. Afterwards, he jumped in to the litterbox and used it and fell asleep with me.

He is a happy cat. He eats, drinks, plays, cuddles, sleeps with me and my boyfriend all night, and loves to explore the apartment. He doesn’t hide or get spooked easily. I just really want to know what is going on with him, so I can help him.

I hope you guys can help me, I just want my boy to be happy!

I am not a minor. I live in Denmark and I can afford a vet.

Is my newly adopted cat stressed?
