Hi all, we bought the saluspa Hawaii a week ago and have enjoyed going in it every day, but the water quality is terrible and I can’t figure out the reason(s). We have a couple issues going on at the same time: bubbles when the jets are on (picture 1), super cloudy water (picture 2), and today I noticed when I took the lid off there was a mildew smell and the bottom feels slimy. So far we’ve used:

Bromine booster when we filled it

Bromine tablets in the chem connect system

Have a floating Zorbie

Used aquadoc weekly spa care like 2 days ago

I tested it yesterday and it’s coming up as having high alkalinity and high ph. Assuming that that’s because we have hard water and filled it from the hose. I did buy ph reducer, but it hasn’t come yet. In addition, the test strip showed low bromine so I added another tablet, but the first two weren’t even dissolved yet.

Ive rinse the filter out twice now. It was dirty, but not filthy.

Am I completely on the wrong track? The bubbles and cloudy water are annoying but it’s the mildew smell that’s concerning me. I run the heater/filter from 10 AM to 8 PM every day. Feeling a little overwhelmed since this is our first hot tub and I didn’t expect an issue so soon.

Have only had hot tub for a week and the water quality is already terrible 😬
