Stargazing spots?

Ask Connecticut

Hey fellow Connecticutioners, this is my first post on the subreddit and I am trying to plan a trip this summer to watch the meteor showers (peak on August 13th)

When I was a child, I went tent camping in central CT and one night, I was gazing at the sky and I could see the Milky Way, like a dusty streak across the sky. It's a core memory for me, and it's on my bucket list to see it again with the naked eye some day.

With ever increasing light and air pollution, are there any good spots where I can go stargazing? I want to take my partners with me as well, so hiking is probably out of the question.

I live in the greater Danbury area but I am willing and able to travel- I'm no stranger to long drives.
