Amplifier surge knocked modem out

Hello - I had a tech out today because my internet went out. The tech informed me that the comcast provided amplifier was blown and must have surged through the coaxial and damaged my modem. I own my own equipment, is there a way to submit a ticket for a claim for some type of reimbursement since the comcast equipment fried my modem?
