A correction to the previous mod post

MOD POST

Well that post certainly got a lot of mixed attention.

To read the post in question click here

There were a lot of mixed reactions based just on the comments of the last post alone. Currently it seems that about 70% of the community is on board with the rules change while a very vocal minority in the comments is opposed to the change or specific changes. I can admit fault where fault is, some things we've addressed were a little too vague and set off alarm bells for people, while the sentiment seems to be heard and accepted by the vast majority of the sub. Im gonna try to provide a little clarity and help yall understand what's going to happen moving forward.

  1. We're reducing restrictions on art depicting the characters as children.

I'd say this one is where we got the most backlash and to be honest I didn't really do a great job of explaining our intention behind the rule. Our intention was to not only address the side of the community that had been championing the idea that "lace is a child so shipping her with anyone is pedophilia", but to also prevent those same people from extrapolating their arguments to "any images of child characters is promoting/providing-to pedos."

This was short sighted. Many of you provided examples of characters that are known to be children in the game as well as citing scenes like the red-memory as reason this rule should not be in place. There was also commentary on how locking art posts depicting characters as children prevents those artists from receiving feed back. Others cited the rule requiring approval adds a bureaucratic layer to uploading art that will discourage people from post art of those characters/scenes.

We hear you, so we are going to change it so that you wont need to receive pre-approval for art depicting chibi/child versions of characters. Nor for characters that are already known to be children. However, we will be removing artwork that depicts children being shipped. Whether that is adult characters being de-aged and shipped or child characters being shipped with each other or adult characters. Shipping art of characters that ride the line for being considered adult or child (I.E. Sherma) are strongly advised to be pre-approved for posting or can risk being taken down due to depicting the character as child-like. The rule of thumb here should be: "Does my character look like an adult in this photo? Are they acting like an Adult? And, Would anyone viewing this image think that this character was a child?" If you take the risk a post art of a character that the mod team determines appears childlike, it will be removed and you will be administered a warning. A second warning will come with a 24 hour ban, then a 72 hour ban, then a week, then a month, before ending with a permanent ban with eligibility for appeal every 3 months.

  1. Shipposting

We are maintaining that shipping posts should be done under their own flair. They clog up the feed and a lot of people aren't really here for them. As such, we are going to leave them relegated to their own flair. If posts are improperly flaired occasionally, we will correct them when we see them. Constant repeat offenders who are purposefully mis-flairing their posts will be contacted and warned before receiving a 1 month ban should the incorrect flairing persist.

  1. Lacenet

We have reached out to a few individuals championing the Lacenet discourse. In all explicit terms; commenting under lacenet fan art that has been correctly flaired to say you don't like the ship is not productive and detracts from the artists work. We don't care if you think Lace is a child by definition. If Lace is being *Depicted as an adult in the art* we are okay with it and will remove any comments trying to spark needless debate over if Lace is or isnt a child. Comments like that will be removed with a warning, and will be given a 2 week ban if repeated. You're allowed to have your own opinion on cannon, and shippers are allowed to have their opinion on fannon. If someone says their Lace is an adult. It doesn't matter what you think about cannon.

Lastly,

I would also like to personally apologize for a terrible first impression on my end. Making comments about my personal feelings on the matter was unprofessional. I'm human, I get heated about thing. It doesn't make it okay to spew them out in a mod post. I have a responsibility to do right by *all of you* even if I don't agree with your communication style, and part of that is maintaining an impartial moderation style. I have no intention of being a tyrant, (u/zoravy would kill me if I tried) I made a mistake in my conduct in a very public way and rightfully received backlash. I hope yall can find it in your hearts to give me a little grace as I settle into my new position.

Humbly yours,

Trin [co-owner] (mrpie1324)

P.s: I'm not a guy despite the mr in my user, just FYI
