34M - Am I overdoing it with Finasteride and Minoxidil, Dutasterid?

Hey guys,

I’m 34 years old and dealing with a receding hairline and some thinning at the crown.

My current routine is:
Oral Finasteride 1 mg every other day (average 0.5 mg/day)
Topical Finasteride spray: 2 sprays every other day on affected areas
Topical Minoxidil: every day
Dutasteride: not using it yet, just keeping it as a backup

I started oral Finasteride in December 2025. The topical Finasteride and Minoxidil were added later.
My idea was to keep the oral Finasteride dose relatively low while adding a small amount of topical Finasteride and using Minoxidil daily.

A few questions:
Does this protocol make sense, or am I overcomplicating things?
Is there any meaningful benefit to combining oral and topical Finasteride?
Would you keep the topical Finasteride or just stick with oral Finasteride + Minoxidil?
At what point would you consider switching to Dutasteride?
For those who use 1 mg Finasteride every other day, how have your results been compared to daily dosing?

Also, I’m not even sure whether I’m experiencing side effects or not. I feel like I might have some mild ones, but it’s really hard for me to tell if they’re actually caused by Finasteride or if I’m just overthinking and paying more attention to things than before.
