Asking when it's time. Feline 14 years, IBD/intestinal lymphoma, Arthritis, UTIs weight loss and Acute Kidney Disease

End Of Life Care

Our cat lola has been sick for a while. She is a regular black cat, 14, neutered, 6.4 lbs right now in the Midwest.

She had diabetes first for a few years (very low insulin shots, minimal), but then she got IBD and lymphoma for which she gets chlorambucil at the vet every two weeks. There was some progress, but its still unresolved after a year and she has gone from 13 lbs at her heaviest to 6.8lbs today.

Normally she lives through her chemo well with the zofran and mirtazapine. She also gets gabapentin daily, and we switched to presdisone steroids one a day. Once a week she gets polyglycan and b12 and once a month silensia?

She has often gotten UTIs with the diabetes, but now she gets one every 2 weeks after the chemo and gets convencia, but i think she is growing immune to the convencia. This last round she had a UTI two weeks ago, or so we tought. Then she got chemo again and wouldn't eat and tested for an infection again, thinking it was a UTI. But then she wouldn't eat still and after 3 more days we took her to the emergency vet and they indicated very high kidney values and low potassium. They want to hospitalize her to get her back going.

At the same time we have t o travel more. I am afraid she will bounce back and then go down when we are out of town. She has two pet sitters.

I am just not sure what to do. Another hospitalization, or just letting her go. I need some advice. When she is feeling good she is happy and purring, but i feel we see that less and less.
