Treating as migraines
I had a lumbar puncture in may 2025 with an opening pressure of 34, nothing was ever mentioned about IIH following that until I was discharged from hospital in Jan 2026 for a desperate issue and iih was listed on the discharge paperwork
During this hospital stay I was prescribed acetazolamide and was told it was for seizures I was having at the time. I returned home and managed 5 days of 250mg twice daily before having to stop due to not being able to eat/drink and keep anything down.
During the stay in Jan I was also referred for an emergency appointment with my nuero which I eventually had in may 2026. He referred me for another lumbar puncture which I have the end of this month.
What's bothering me is despite constant dizziness, pressure in my head and blurred vision with minimal black spots he's stated he's likely only going to treat me for migraines ongoing.
Is this typical? I'm debating going through the process of requesting a new nuero because of a separate medical issue, how hard is this in the UK?
