Release troubles
Hey all!
Looking for some advice or feedback on matching up a release type to my swing. Been golfing for a long time, usually hit in the low 90s. A few years back I took some lessons to finally try and gain some consistency. The coach completely changed my swing. Path is consistently 2 degrees inside to out, taught me to use a body release and aim for a bit of a draw.
When I connect I hit it really great. I can send a a 7 iron 170 yards with a nice flight.
However over the past 3 years my consistency has tanked and what I attribute it to is my lack of ability to consistently fire my hips.
I find the body release requires a very aggressive rotation to square the face. I can do this, but as the round progresses I get tired and it leads to slices, fat, and thin shots. On top of that, I'm extremely sore after a game.
The biggest swing thought I've found that produces consistency is firing my left glute backwards and rotating around my left leg. However, the above problems still exist.
I'm 35 now, so I'm not sure if this is the best swing for longevity and consistency if I want to keep playing into old age, as I've had rounds I can barely walk after even at 35...
