Affable Misery
Beans and bones will sprout from my mouth
Long before i lay aside our keys
If i send your skin off to the stream
Will my river still run within
Will my sailboat glide on slowly
Until I'm vapor among the clouds
Will i gather dust beneath your soles
While the bell calls for you aloud
A gathering has come to witness me
Upon a public stage I stand to learn
Whether I am bound for glory
Or the misery-laden rope of the gallows
Has the course been fouled beyond repair
For I was the shoe fitted to this jest
The iron that forged it at its finest
What wrong have I done
To be made to stand on nothing
The earth withdrew beneath my feet
An affable sight for those below
This beautiful certainty has made my eyes swell
Thunder spills from them, pouring out what remains of me
The cost of a moment's ascension was too dear a price to pay
