The switch up of the shows tone from start to end is insane to me

Yeah btw I don’t know what to type really so apologies if this post makes no sense.

Started watching this show almost two weeks ago I think. It’s really good and I’m enjoying it. But I just can’t get over how much the tone of the show changes from the start to the end.

You start off with some absolute gooner who has problems in his apartment meeting a random girl and beginning to make a game with his next door neighbour/former school acquaintance. Then he gets a bunch of questionable resources. Seems really weird and dodgy for the first few episodes.

Then it changes to what seems very comedic and heartwarming in some parts after that.

Then episodes 12 and 13 just flip the tone of the show on its head.

I’ve nearly finished the show. Got episodes 21-24 to watch but I still can’t get over episode 13. I don’t know what it was that scared me so fucking much. I don’t know what to say. The ending for that episode made me shiver for a good while after.

I have never watched a show with this dramatic of a switch up in tone before. I could tell it was going to be at least slightly depressing at some parts before at various points during the first half despite being slightly more comedic in those areas but I didn’t expect it to be this sad in the second half at all.

It’s really gone above my expectations though I have to say.
