[Event] Wedding Feast of Ser Ormund Lannister and Lady Leyla Tully

Event

3rd Moon, 54 AC, Riverrun

Ceremony

The wedding itself took place within the Sept of Riverrun, a modest but comfortable seven-sided structure built of sandstone. Within, depictions of the Seven were painted on white silver-veined marble, and stained glass windows created a rainbow illusion in the white smoke that rose to the ceiling as Septon Martyn held a crystalline censer high above his head while the groom and bride recited the seven prayers and exchanged their vows.

Ser Ormund Lannister wore Lannister ruby and gold, the ceremonial wedding cloak–made of plush velvet and lined with ermine placed upon his shoulders. Beside him, Leyla Tully, wore House Tully’s cloak, a more modest but finely made river blue and mud red with silver threading. Beneath it was a stunning white gown made of samite and silk. On the skirt were golden lions and silver trouts embroidered with the finest thread, and on the bodice was a faint flower motif, matching the golden-and-pearl floral jewelry which had been custom made for this wedding.

Along the attendants, a pair of thurifers walked, singing songs as the smaller thuribles they carried swung side to side, dispensing white, fragrant smoke. Small crystals, attached to the bottom of the thuribles, clinked together. Behind the thurifers followed small children, throwing flower petals from wicker baskets.

“Ser Edmyn, you may remove the maiden’s cloak,” said the Septon. The father of the bride stepped forward, clearing his throat as shaking hands undid the silver trout brooch which held the cloak in place. The cloak followed, and Edmyn stepped aside. “Ser Ormund, you may place the cloak of your House upon Lady Leyla’s shoulders.”

The groom did so as gracefully as he could and Leyla smiled when it was over, secretly relieved that he hadn’t dropped it, as he had during the rehearsals. Septon Martyn continued, instructing the couple to light the seven candles before he faced them once more.

“With this kiss, I pledge my love, and take you as my lord and husband…”

“...as my lady and wife…”

“I now proclaim you husband and wife: one flesh, one heart, one soul, now and forever.”

Wedding Feast

The Great Hall of Riverrun had never been more lavishly decorated. New furniture had been made and brought in for the event, along with custom tableware, and brightly-colored banners and new tapestries hung from the ceilings and balconies and walls. A freshly-dyed and -made Myrish rug divided the hall in the middle, ruby on the left side, crimson on the right, with gold and silver fringes. Every table had matching tablecloth and cloth napkins, and beautiful spring bouquets decorated every table, sitting in vases of beautiful crystal and scented water… to the dismay of the allergy prone.

There wasn’t one entertainer, but several that took turns on the stage. It was obvious with just a glance who had paid for the lion’s share of the wedding, and if there had been more minstrels and bards and lutists and dancers and singers available, there was no doubt they would’ve been called to perform.

To every child, plushies in the form of golden lions and silver trouts were given; and to every adult, a gilded handheld mirror and matching comb, both of which had inlaid small rubies and sapphires and the carving of lions and trouts.
