Is this course and brushes worth the price? Also gamedev
Hi everyone,
I'm a complete beginner when it comes to drawing. I can barely draw a straight lines and general sketches, but I've finally decided to learn because creating art has always been something I've felt missing (I used to do a lot of projects around art in High school a million years ago).
I also recently joined a local beginner drawing course (starting this Friday), although it focuses on traditional drawing rather than digital art. I'm hoping it will help me build the fundamentals while I learn the digital side separately. I have purchased a XPPen Deco 01 V3 arriving next week.
My long-term goal isn't to become a professional illustrator or work in a studio. I'm already a software engineer and indie game developer, and I'd love to eventually create the characters, creatures, props, UI, and concept art for my own games instead of relying entirely on hiring artists.
The style I'm aiming for is something along the lines of Darkest Dungeon, Battle Brothers, or Hades—stylized, a bit dark, with strong silhouettes rather than realistic art.
I recently found this Humble Bundle:

A few questions:
- Is this bundle actually worth buying for someone starting from absolute zero?
- Are the courses included actually useful, or would I be better off following free resources like DrawABox, Proko, or Marc Brunet?
- Since I'm already taking a traditional drawing course, what would be the best way to complement it with digital practice?
- If you were starting over today with the goal of making your own game art, what learning path would you follow?
I'm not looking for shortcuts—I know this will probably take years of consistent practice. I'm just trying to avoid wasting time learning the wrong things.
I'd really appreciate any advice from artists who have been in my shoes.
Thanks!
