First family therapy appointment with my nmom after 5 years of NC.

Relationships

Well that went exactly how I thought it was going to go... Crocodile tears, framing the past and making things up/ changing details so that makes it seem like I lack empathy, that I am a spoiled selfish daughter that only wants her for her money, that she's at fault for my horrible behavior because she spoiled me too much as a child.

According to her, she loves me more than anything in the world and would've done anything I asked if it meant repairing our relationship (talking about our 5 year no contact period) yet at the same time, she was the reason I was homeless which caused me to lose my job.

she only had space for my cat which she neglected and resulted in her death and then guilt tripped me about it because she had to pay for the vet visit/cremation.

When I needed her most, she abandoned me. I begged her for help and she told me to go fuck myself.

Yet apparently she was only trying to help by trying to teach me some independence and responsibility. A lie, of course, it was out of pettiness and disdain. You don't "teach" someone responsibility making false promises, manipulating someone into signing a loan you know they can't afford, and then going back on your word to pay it off.

Then she had the gall to say that my roommate was brainwashing me and turning me against her because I reached my breaking point and finally decided to advocate for myself.

I feel like therapy is pointless and is just another way for her to feed her ego and seek validation. She's too good at playing the victim and I will always be framed as the unappreciative, selfish daughter.
