Jade vs Sam. Why is one hated and the other beloved?

Discussion:Ellie2:

Title.

Honestly it's no hidden secret I believe Sam's character is garbage. But im not gonna be an hypocrite. Jade had a lot of flaws in her writing and I clowned her a lot.

What I don't get is: Why is this sub so ADDICTED to defend Sam's writhing from any sort of criticism, claiming he's super well written while also clowning on Jade for being a game Bot?

Jade, by the start of the merge had:

- Vulnerable moments with Benji, showing how she wished to show more of herself.

- A established backstory.

- A real connection with Isabel

- A real (although flawed) dynamic with Spencer

- Moments of pettyness, like her mean spirited comments to Ivy.

- Moments where she breaks her calm 'composure'

- Moments of self doubt in the game (The Benji vote)

- her hypocrisy, her spitefulness towards Spencer when she was more at fault for betraying him for the girls.

Was she well written? Lmfao, not really. But there was still something there!

Now gets go over Sam, shall we?

- No established backstory aside from a hinted dead husband

- No real insecurity or vulnerability in or OUTSIDE the game

- No moments of self reflection

- No genuine connections with ANYONE in the cast

- No genuine conversations aside from game related stuff.

- No personally or personality flaws, since almost everything he does is an act and his real self is just taunting Spencer or *ding ding ding* talking strategy.

So why is everyone acting like he's NOT a gamebot and very bland?

I have come to the conclusion that dis venture camp fans are much, much, MUCH more harsh towards the female characters than the male ones.

Notice how whenever this sub blows up with the hatred of a character, aside from Jake, it's *always* a woman? Lynda, Ivy, Anastasia, Riya, Natalia, LAKE.

Sam is fan service. Male perfect villain the fans were begging for? Check. Muscular man that is constantly sexualized and made to be 'Spencer's buff daddy'? Check. Yaoi bait? Checkity check.
