Almost five days ago we picked up a stray from the street and brought him home. We have two cats, one neutered male and one unspayed female. Female got into heat the night we brought new cat to the apartment and has ofcourse, been very local for the last four days.

We made an appointment and he was neutered yesterday morning.

The stray is a big sweetheart and loves to get into our laps and purr. He did not complain about the small room he is placed in and seemed just very grateful to be in a home. So he was very happy to be with us at first, but two nights ago started yelling at us uncontrollably while getting closer into our faces, looking as if he is about to attack us (but did not).

Ever since he has been insanely vocal and last night he hasn’t stopped yelling at the door and violently throwing himself at them, so strong, it sounded as if he is going to break them.

Now I can’t tell if he desperately wants to mate with our female or if he has gotten THIS frustrated of being in a small room after roaming the streets freely for a long time.

He does not want to play with us at all anymore, he does still cuddle us but will suddenly burst into yelling very loudly right into our faces.

The female hates him and has attacked him once when she slipped inbetween our legs and got into his room.
Obviously we made a big mistake by bringing home a unneutered male to our unspayed female and she will get spayed as soon as her heat settles.

So is this a mating call or a cry to get out of the room?
