Foster cat licked spay/neuter incision 5 days post-op (come back on now)
Hey everyone! Looking for some advice or peace of mind while I wait to hear back from my foster coordinator in the morning.
My foster cat managed to lick her spay site today at 5 days post-op. When I looked, the center of the incision looks a bit raw and slightly opened up compared to the day of surgery. I put a cone on her right away so she can’t touch it anymore, and she’s confined in a quiet room for the night.
She’s acting completely fine otherwise, eating, alert, and not actively bleedingX but I'm really anxious. For anyone who fosters or works in rescue, does this look like something that just needs the cone kept on, or will the shelter vet likely need to use skin glue/antibiotics on it?
I already emailed the shelter medical team but haven’t got a response. Thanks so much in advance!
