poem attampt #5 Last talk

Feedback Please

When you’re about to throw your life away,

Who will come to talk to you?

As you say your last goodbye

To a world that has driven you to a breaking point?

Will it be your friend?

Will he tell you you're important,

That you matter, that he can help?

But where was he when I was breaking?

Why couldn’t he notice?

Will it be your enemies?

As they gloat and laugh,

Saying, “Finally we got you where we wanted you.

Finally time to say goodbye, good to know you.”

Well, at least I brought joy to some before I go.

Will it be your bully?

Will he apologize?

Will he tell you, “Sorry,

I didn’t mean for this to happen.”

But what will an apology do,

When my wound is deep and still bleeding?

Will it be your family?

Saying, “Come back.

We love you.

If you go we’ll miss you.

If you go we’ll be hurt and wounded.”

And what about my pain?

Where was their love to soothe me in my lowest?

If they loved me, then why did this happen?

Why couldn’t they see my heart was hurting?

Will it be the old beggar from down the road?

Saying, “Son, you may have suffered but others have it worse.”

Then does my pain mean nothing?

Doesn’t it earn a shred of sympathy?

Or some pity perhaps?

Maybe an angel will come by,

And just like in the old times,

He’ll talk to you about how great your purpose is.

And he’ll try to take your hand,

And comfort you in his embrace.

But why was he not protecting me in the storm?

Why did he not shield me from the malice of this world?

Why did he let me walk through my own hell alone?

Why did no one stand up for me?

Or maybe it’ll be a devil.

He’ll say, “Hey, I’ll cut you a deal.

If you want money and pleasure,

I'll sell them to you.

Just give me your soul,

And I'll give it all to you.

I’ll give you your revenge and all,

And a glow-up arc too.

All you got to do is follow me,

And you’ll never want anything again.

And at the end of the day you’ll see,

That living on the top of others is great.”

That sounds nice at first, but it's all pointless.

Why have all of that, when it will not soothe me?

Why would I become what hurt me?

Then how could I live with myself?

I'd rather be the victim

Than become the enemy.

Or maybe just like Job,

God Himself will descend to help you out.

He’ll ask you, “Child, what pains you so much?”

And I'll scream and curse and cry and sob.

How could the all-powerful creator allow such pain?

How could such malice and wickedness exist in man?

Or was it just me who's been cursed

To take the brunt of these attacks?

I’ll ask Him to bring me relief,

To erase all the evil and all the pain.

And He’ll reply, “Oh my sweet child,

How it pains me to see you here.

See, I didn’t want this pain for you.

When I created this world, all I intended was good.

But the brighter the light, the bigger the shadow it casts.

There is evil simply because there is good.

And I use this evil to help you,

To make you strong so you can help others.

I know you're angry and hurting and confused,

But you can’t give up hope just yet.

I promise there's a plan to it all.

Just have faith in me and your reward will be great.”

And I’ll probably say something like,

“I must have been blind not to see your light.

But I'm tired. As much as I want to believe, I'm tired.

And I can only ask for a bit of mercy,

And that you’ll let me in through heaven's door.”

Or maybe no one will come,

And I’ll look into the mirror,

And realize how pitiful I look.

And maybe I’ll imagine what all they would say

If they were there.

But they're not.

But what if they were.

So I march forward,

Simply because in this world,

You no longer have the right to kill me.
