Pink plastic lawn contraptions
Long legged squawky, beachy birds
Side eye of insecurity in the lineup
Just a squat, Thanksgiving turkey

Short and round, awkward
Never tall and slender
Can’t transform a beastly St. Bernard
into a tiny, lap yappy Chihuahua

Maybe I’ll build myself into a Florida panther
Pounce and press your ass into the ground
Intimidating, overbearing and quite unexpected
Certainly not the animal I dreamed I’d be in my foolish youth
