Cat tearing out tufts of fur

Not really sure what to do at this point as I’m running out of options.

I have a DSH, 4 years old, male neutered, no previous medical issues to report. His only symptom is tearing his fur out, it started 5 months ago. His vet records show no issues internally or with his skin everything is clean (I don’t know how to attach things pls forgive me but everything is clean). We live in the Chicago area.

My cat has been tearing tufts of fur out for about 5 months now. Hes been treated for allergies with steroids and it hasn’t done anything(he’s still on the steroids). Hes been treated with anxiety meds and it did nothing. I’ve spent about 800$ at different vets trying to figure this out and all of them say that there’s no reason for him to be doing this. I don’t want him to have to live the rest of his life in a cone. I can’t afford to keep bringing him back to the vet every 2 weeks because he won’t stop… I’m at such a loss at this point. Please, any advice is helpful…
